Restaurant Review: Thai Edge

Hey guys,

A couple of nights ago my boyfriend and I decided to go out for a meal in Birmingham where I go to Uni, before I came back home for summer. We decided on Thai Edge, where he was originally going to take me on our first date :) Luckily we booked in advance, as it was really busy which shows how popular it is, and there were lots of groups who were eating there before Gradball.

The restaurant is located in Brindley Place, which has many different types of restaurants and bars that are popular mainly amongst young office workers and they have other branches of Thai Edge in Leeds, Bristol and Cardiff. First of all, the inside was so nicely decorated and modern - it even had a little stream :) The service was excellent - very attentive and friendly, but not so it was claustrophobic. The front of house even came and had a conversation with us, which we thought was a nice touch.

As it was our first time eating there, we opted for the Royal Orchid set menu at £21.50 pp, which we thought would be the best value for money as it enabled us to try a lot of different things from the menu at a good price. The food was of a really high standard and there was no long wait between courses. The drinks menu had a lot of choice too, and I had a Strawberry Daiquiri cocktail which was really yummy and Matt had 2 Chang beers. Sorry in advance for the quality and lack of pictures - I forgot my camera so had to use Matt's iPhone and we had started the main before remembering to take a picture and missed out desert entirely :\ Below is listed what we had in the set menu:
Strawberry Daiquiri
Me with the cocktail!

Chang Beer
Enjoying my cocktail (excuse the horribly chipped nail varnish!)

Mixed starters: Chicken Satay, Golden Bags, Spring Rolls, Prawn Rolls, and Chicken in Pandanus leaves.

Mixed starters with dipping sauces: from L: satay, a syrupy one, sweet chilli.

Main courses: Green chicken curry, stir-fried beef with chilli and basil, pork with garlic and peppers, stir-fried mixed vegetables and egg friend rice. These offered a good range of  different meats and levels of spiciness, so would suit everyone. Mine and Matt's favourite was the pork :)

Half eaten main courses!
Desert was not included but we decided on a chocolate mousse encased in a marbled chocolate prism and a chocolate and amaretto mousse, both of which were presented beautifully.

Overall, it was a really lovely dining experience and I would definitely recommend paying it a visit :)
